As stated above, Richard swapped out the RPI2 IMG. One important thing to note is that the file size has been decreased by about 1/3. This should help with lessening the chance for the file getting truncated as it was almost 1 GB before. Let us know how it works out for you.73,

Thanks for the input. We plan to offer checksums on future downloads. For now we have gotten the RPI2 image remade at a third the size so that should help with the file not completing in some circumstances. Thanks for the patience as we build our infrastructure and refine our work flow.73,

Aaron, N3MBHForum AdministratorThis looks like it might be due to an incomplete download. For the ‘openrepeater-raspi2-1.0.0-beta 1-07_07_15.img.gz’ file should be about 944 MB before unzipping. Another user was getting theirs truncated. Maybe try a different browser and see if that helps.

Welcome to the forums. In theory, yes they should work, but with unfavorable results. There is an art/science to building a repeater and ORP is only the “brain”. I’d say it should work within close range away from other RF generating devices, but there is still a strong likelihood of desense on the RX side from the simultaneous use of the TX. The RX in the Baofengs is pretty cruddy compared to other radios. You’d almost need some kind of duplexer to notch the frequencies. Many of the cheap compact duplexers won’t work on 2m ham because they don’t have enough separation between the input and output. They would probably work on 70cm, but they need to be tuned.If you are looking for a good resource for the radio end of repeaters, check out

Aaron, N3MBHForum AdministratorGreetings and welcome to the forums. A lot has to do with preference and there are ups and downs to each. I use the BBB primarily and is seems to work fine. That has the least memory of the three. Richard has all three as he uses them to build the images. The Odroid C-1 has the most horsepower of them all, but a smaller support community. The RPI2 has the largest community around it and the price is right. I think the Pi Foundation has made some good improvements with their latest boards. I was having issues with the older model B. Right now it’s a shake down and it’s anyone’s game, but the Pi has the most klout in the market and the C-1 header is “Pi Compatible” even though the GPIO pin numbers are different.
So if I had to put my money on anything right now I would probably say the RPI2 as that is probably going to be the board form factor if we go with a daughter style board.

Thanks for trying out the project. So just to confirm, you have the Raspberry Pi 2 with the quad core processor and 1GB of memory, correct?You should have an .img file after you uncompress it. What application did you use to write it to your SD card?
