    Bjorn…not a problem

KD8MST…yes the line I mention above does that. It adds svxlink to the services that autostart. I over looked that when I build the packages. We have now added that into our build script so it doesn’t happen again. If I have a chance this weekend I will fix that in the images and reupload.

Ok Guys, here is the problem. SVXLink isn’t even starting. This is my fault as I forgot to add the service to built before making the image files. It’s a simple fix though. Just issue the follow command at the prompt:

    systemctl enable svxlink.service

If you added anything to rc.local, you can remove it. Special thanks to Richard for pointing out what I overlooked.

Sorry I hadn’t had a chance to reply to this yet. I didn’t think this was a problem on the RPI2, but it does seem to occur now on both. I am doing some mods and testing for some new functions on the RPI2, but maybe I just didn’t pickup on it before. Yes your solution of restarting or stopping/starting the svxlink service does seem to fix it. I will point Richard at this topic to see what his thoughts are since it did the shell work. Thanks for your feedback and for the temporary work around.

Sorry about that, I thought I had replied to your thread. The only IMG that is available is the 1.0.0 version which I wouldn’t recommend because it had a custom Debian jessie base for the RPI2. You may have better luck with the current 1.1.0 version as it is running Raspbian. I may work on the older Pi, but I don’t have a working one anymore to try. You are welcome to give it a shot and report back, but there are no guarantees. I’ve experience audio stutter on the older Pi with an earlier version of svxlink when first starting the project. Seemed to be either under powered or issues with the USB integration.

    Hello Bjorn,
Thanks for all your reports. Sorry for the aplay -r command..brain slip. I meant aplay -l and arecord -l, but that doesn’t matter so much. Before leaving for work this morning I booted up my BBB that I made the image on and experienced the same result. I am also using a cheap sound card for testing with the CM108 chipset. It doesn’t respond right away. Everything appears to be correct. It just seems like the sound driver is slow to load or something. I am not certain why it would do this. I am using the same CM108 chipset on my Raspberry Pi 2 build and that works no problems. I think in my testing the card would stop working after some time on the BBB. I am wondering if the driver for the sound card is buggy. I might have to try a ‘apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade’ tonight and let you know if that fixes things. Thanks for your reports.

    Greetings Bjorn,
A couple things to check when you are experiencing this issue…

    1. What sound device are you using and does it show up initially? From the command line, try “lsusb” and share the results.
    2. You can also try aplay -l and aplay -r and see if the results change any from before or after the issue. Share your results as well.
    3. When you go into TX/RX Ports while encountering the problem, does it is show input and out put audio selected or are the dropdowns unselected and you have to select and save?

Just trying to understand the scope of what you are experiencing. Thanks for your feedback.

I think the SVXLink core we use might support this already, I would have to dig into the code and documentation to figure it out. If you can find it you could add some modifications into the svxlink_update.php file, which is responsible for generating the config files.

Our goal is to start with the essential features and build upon that as we are able. But I will come back here when I am making improvements. Thanks.

Sounds good, if you figured it out let us know. We might be able to build upon you findings and add it in as a feature. Good luck.

Glad to hear it and that it’s working for you. The SVXLink core is pretty capable already. We just have to build the UI and logic to make it easier to configure. You can certainly hack it and customize it to your needs. If you do, instead of editing the svxlink config files directly, I’d recommend editing the the svxlink_update.php file. many of the settings are hard coded here and some get replaced with variables from the UI/DB. This way you can still updated stuff in the UI and not overwrite you modifications/overrides.

Something I hope to implement in the future would be a user photo gallery showing different installs of ORP. Or maybe you could be a guest author for a blog article and outline your setup and have a tribute to Andrew. If you are interested shoot me a email at info at openrepeater dot com. Thanks for the update and good luck.
