    Hi Simon,
I believe that you contacted me via FB. If you want to pick up the conversation there, that’s fine. We are working on the next release, so I hope to have some option(s) to remote disable for compliance.

    James,

Looking at Juan’s documentation he refers to it as “0,1µF/ 100nF tantale (104)” so I would say they are tantalum capacitors. Probably just the French notation for it. He has a parts list for it here: http://svxcard.f5uii.net/doku.php?id=en:carte_electronique_composants_et_montage

If you need anything further, let me know and I can email you Juan’s email address so you can get your questions answered directly. His info is also good on QRZ.

    Hello James,
While it would not be impossible to implement this code in SVXLink directly, the purpose of this GitHub repo is mainly a home for the development code. This is a module that I worked on that will be included in the next release of ORP that we are working on right now. This is only the SVXLink side of the code. The ORP release will also include a Web GUI to do the configuration changes and output a list of all the possible DTMF codes based on the number of Relays that you have setup. ORP will also handle registering the GPIO pins with the OS.

Generally speaking it looks like you are on the right track. I modified the readme file some to make a clearer outline of where the files goes. You will still need to modify the svxlink_update.php file as this writes out to svxlink.conf. It doesn’t have any provisions in the older versions to do this automatically. You will need to hard code the module name in. Some understanding of PHP and svxlink is required.

However…if you can wait a bit, this will be included in the next build of ORP where all you will need to do is enter your settings in a web GUI and connect your relays to the appropriate GPIO pins specified in your settings.

Last I read it only works on Arduinos with an ARM processor. It works at a low level without and OS. ORP required linux running and it sits on top of that. Right now there is no one that is able to offer the time to figure it out and port/test code. It might also be prudent to wait because as time progresses the SBCs out there will get faster and more efficient and able to process data like that on the fly.

Right now ORP and the core code is strictly analog. I’ve been keeping an eye on the MMDVM project and just watching DV modes from a distance in general. Right now DV modes are too convoluted. There isn’t any emerging standard yet, so until the manufactures can get on the same page it is a waiting game to see what modes die out.

Perhaps one of these days we will incorporate DV modes with “software modems” but that is a ton of work and we still have much to improve with the analog setup and also working on building some solid interface boards.

So for now it is on the way in the future list, but certainly not ruled out.

SSH into the board and shut down the SVXLink Core (services svxlink stop). If you don’t know how to SSH into the board, see this: https://openrepeater.com/knowledgebase/topic/connecting-via-ssh

Once you do that use the tutorial above (just the top portion of the page) to register pins and manually toggle the values. You can cat the values on both in and out pins to see what their current state is and you can echo out a new value to output pins.

Also, make sure that you are specifying that GPIO pin numbers and not the actual header pin numbers. If the RPI seems to function already, try another GPIO pin. Maybe try the inputs you know are good.

    Gort,
If you are referring to the US FRS service, then no that would be illegal. It is a very restricted service. Using UV5Rs for FRS is also technically illegal also. FRS is not allowed to have removable antennas or exceed 500mw in power. Any type of repeater use is also prohibited. I would say it would be best to help them study for their Tech licenses. ARRL exams are $15 and if you find a group that administers Laurel VEC exams, they are free. Once licensed they would probably be best off using a low power simplex node that connect to the internet and ties into IRLP or Echolink. Then they can all join the same room or patch into other repeaters that use the same service.

You can probably just set a call sign, then turn off the short and long identification.

Glad to hear you resolved it. Yes, it does require a callsign and if one is not set, it will assume the setup wizard needs run again.
