The rebuild and restart command seems to hang up and the banner stays on the top of the GUI so I have to reboot, which works, but my change to simplex has effected more than the mode. Have not noticed anything else, so far, however. Changes to GUI do take place, but not as smoothly as before. Had to adjust timings to avoid ping pong of repeater I am linking to and have noticed that the first letter of my call is being missed so will investigate a delay setting. I see many settings that could be adjusted, but I hesitate to change a working version since I do not know what each setting effects. Are there some common useful settings I should look at or is it best to leave them alone.
Randy, N4UUJUserThanks for the tip. I wondered about the four W’s instead of three. What line did you change to keep the REBUILD command from overwriting your changes to the config file. I want to use the simplex configuration for echolink. Tried to reverse the repeater and simplex files at the bottom but did not work.
ADDED: I changed the section for “repeater” to “simplex” to make it identical to the simplex section below and that worked so when rebooted from dashboard it rebuilds to a simplexlogic configuration, which is all I need for my echolink node using the ICS-1X controller. A clumsy bit of code, but it works.

Randy, N4UUJUserHello:I tried /var/wwww/openrepeater/includes/classes/SVXLink.php and it appears the file is empty, no there lines of code? I want my changes to the SVXLink config file to not be overwritten by the rebuild command from ORP but retain ORP for monitoring the system. Where do I need to go?
Randy, N4UUJUserThank you Aaron for your work. I was hoping there would be an easy way to identify the ICS 1X single port as port 2 instead of 1, or identify the ICS1X board as a ICS2X board with dummy port 1 turned off and make the single port #2. Maybe as a separate board selection model ICS1XB. I know it would be complicated to have everything select-able from the dashboard. Thanks for the update.
Randy, N4UUJUserAAron had mentioned in a previous post that the first port of the 2X board was duplex as the current ORP is now written and all other ports would be simplex links. Are the simplex links on the 2X boards for port 2 dependent on the new version of the software or does it function as a simplex port now? Maybe the ICS 2X an option for my application? I just want to connect to a local repeater like another other operator (but thru echolink) and not have it repeat what is coming thru the receiver and not a lot of beeps and ID’s. I appreciate all the work you guys have done. It works perfectly with echolink here on the bench if I can just bend it to my needs and get it on the air. A lot more work to be done,I am sure. Thanks
Randy, N4UUJUserAaron had stated in December that simplex was on his bucket list. How close is is V2.1. I currently have the ICS 1X on a RPi2 with RX and COS from a Yeasu FT1500M and the TX going to a speaker amp to monitor. I use a Beofeng HT as input with a tone and tone squelch on the Yeasu to prevent stray signals. I would like to set up as a remote user of local repeater for 2 meter net but do not want to use two radios and duplexer if possible. What is my best option or should I try another way.
Randy, N4UUJUserSuccess!! After long hours of struggling to get ports open and public it is working today after I read an article about using NO-IP to get echolink into my node. (at least I think that is what is different….also added port triggering as well as port forwarding) Port checker still says port 5198-5199 & 5200 are closed but it is working? I can connect from home on same IP address on my home router and from LTE from my Iphone and a friend has connected as well.
My question now is…I have the ICS 1X board and wish to operate simplex. Is that option in the works or will I have to modify the SVX program (OMG) or should I just get the 2X board. I thought a using the Busy Channel Lock Out feature to stop the TX while RX in progress on my single Yeasu FT1500 radio but it does not have that feature. I want to use as simplex link to a local repeater thus can’t have the second radio transmitting while receiving causing a loop. RX to echolink IN and echolink OUT to TX. N4UUJ-R 242989 What is the best way forward?
I currently am testing with one radio as a receiver and the TX is fed to an amplified speaker. I do have a second radio but no duplexer is planned as yet.
Randy, N4UUJUserHi Dan: I have the 1X board so only one port.
Randy, N4UUJUserSorry Arron, I missed some earlier post of you and Dan and have repeated some old information on my desired configuration. I will do some more work on my Echolink connection, if it looks like I have the hardware setup correctly. Yes, my original setup caused some weird effects. Sorry!
My first goal is to have Echolink access to a local repeater. (The repeater is having some interference problems of late so the operator may not want this at this time.) Then, the second goal would be a stand alone local VHF access for our remote area with Echolink for those working outside the area. Much like the simplex DStar gateway I operate with five watts giving about a ten mile radius coverage. I had a simplex Echolink node in mind when I started but I am not sure of what is possible and if I have what I need. I can do crossband id necessary to have two radios. I was thinking since Echolink is simplex, my repeater would only need to be simplex. Would it be easier with the 2X board? My Linux skills are limited and copying code seems to lead to problems due my lack of knowledge.
Randy, N4UUJUserThanks Dan, I will need to refine my audio setting, but they are working for now. The repeater ID’s are very readable and at a good level. Is this a good standard for rough setting of my levels and replies from echolink?
I can activate Echolink but I cannot connect to my repeater from another computer or I cannot connect to another node from my repeater. N4UUJ-R shows as active on Echolink station list. It says connecting but times out and never connects….according to the repeater log. I can connect to 9999# the echolink echo test conference server and it will echo back. Does that mean it is able to connect and setup is correct. In my past experience with Echolink I thought that was a test for a working configuration for Echolink.
My hardware question is: will I use two radios, like a standard repeater, to have an Echolink link to a local repeater. It seems that would cause an endless loop as I have read. What configuration would I want. Would be the same for a crossband configuration. You had mentioned changing to simplex in the software. Or does the software take care of the loop problem. -
