I skimmed the ic7100.c file in Hamlib and I see there there is a “.set_mem” variable on line 260, but it appears to be missing the “.get_mem” variable. Maybe check that out.

    Gregg,
Sounds like you are making some head way. I’ve only lightly tinkered with rigctrl. So if I understand correctly the ‘E’ (uppercase) writes the Memory to the radio and the ‘e’ (lowercase) reads the memory to the radio. I presume much like the F and f do for frequency. I assume that the library for the IC7100 is in Beta or just half baked. This feature is likely supported on other radios.

So I am assuming that the ‘e’ feature yeilds no results when run directly from the command line. If that is the case then you would probably need to turn to the ic7100.c library in hamlib to track down the issue. If you can fix it maybe make a user contribution to get it up to par.

I am not sure if you are making your edits to a direct SVXLink module under ORP 2.0.0 or if you are using the dev 2.1.0 code with the new module framework. My initial thoughts for UI for a Rig Control module would be to have the modules settings page present a dropdown list for the rig model (pulled from executing a hamlib/rigctrl command to populate the list) then provide a drop down for various baud rates, and a drop down for available serial pins.

From there we could create some dynamic fields to allow users enter mapping DTMF commands to Rigctrl functions to suite their needs and what their radio supports. We could of course pre populate it with some defaults.

I would also need to build in some sort of precheck when going to the settings page to check to make sure that the Hamlib package is installed.

Just some initial thoughts, but it would be a pretty cool module.

That sounds good. Hopefully I can start to investigate svxreflector hear soon. Maybe get a spare Pi setup at a straight SVXLink system with svxreflector so that I can get my head around it.

I’ve also moved this into a new forum created for module development as that will be a thing in the upcoming release.

    Gregg,
Glad that you’ve gotten the hamlib/rigctrl working on the Pi. Sounds like it will be a cool module once we can put all the pieces together.

In the meantime, now that you have rigctrl working on your pi, you can connect it to the outside world if you can punch a hole in your firewall or use a VPN or something then you can ssh into the pi to control your rig.

    Pretty neat stuff.

Thanks for the update. Yeah, occasionally folks will get a bad burn or bad download that will semi-work but cause some weird issues. One of the first things we suggest is to redownload and reburn. Maybe times they report back that it fixes the issue.

Thanks Dan for the template. This is the start of a framework for a module that will be installable, it is currently missing some of the UI features, but I am sure that will be coming as we are still developing that.

We are working on building out what we refer to as the Module Framework in OpenRepeater and that is a new feature we are working on for an upcoming release (likely version 2.1.0). It will facilitate much easier install of SVXLink modules along with UI elements to allow for simpler configuration of the modules from within ORP.

Thanks for the reply. From what I’ve researched AllStar certainly has some appeal and it’s own following. I’ve heard that it has better audio quality than EchoLink, but then again I don’t find EchoLink bad. EchoLink also offers iPhone/Android apps which adds some versatility to the network.

Asterisk is not directly tied to ham radio. It is a voip program that is designed as a software phone PBX. AllStar utilizes it using a third party plugin called “apt-rpt”. Last I check the development on that was stagnant or the developer had passed away. Then the group you mention has news on their site from this year talking about a number of server issues and those that manage it.

I’ve thought I’ve run across some licensing restrictions in the pass, but that was a few years ago. That said, with those potential hurdles to get around and the uncertain of the network, it creates a sort of put-off feeling to actively pursuing development and testing for incorporation into ORP.

We’ve never ruled it out, just waiting to see how things shake out while we focus on other areas of development that a more certain. I don’t know if something else is out there besides apt-rpt or not. That’s why I would need someone to come on board that has expertise in AllStar and hopefully SVXLink as well that can help with the development or even coaching to get on the network and make the most of it.

It has certainly been on the back burner list just as I’ve been watching MMDVM projects as well for possible incorporation in the future to handle digital voice modes. But that is a ways off too.

One of the prime focuses of ORP is building a solid community based service that will hopefully be around for the long haul.

Not a problem. Perhaps it was a weird fluke. But if you encounter the issue again, we’d certainly like to track it down. Thanks.

Dan just check the 2.0.0 image on his Pi 3B+ and had no issues booting. Let us know if this is a persistent issue for you and we will investigate further. 73
