Is it possible to have OpenRepeater decide what to do with a mode that is coming in?

For instance a Yaesu DR-1 can do analog and C4FM automatically, and you can configure the repeater to do what you want. So that if it detects digital you can have it convert to both analog and digital or stay digital, etc.

Is it going to be possible to do this with OpenRepeater?

We are looking at the MMDVM but there seems to be no way to incorporate our existing analog controller to it. We would like to keep analog here but also want to add digital modes.

Of course we still have the problem of 2 tone paging.

    Thanks

Right now ORP and the core code is strictly analog. I’ve been keeping an eye on the MMDVM project and just watching DV modes from a distance in general. Right now DV modes are too convoluted. There isn’t any emerging standard yet, so until the manufactures can get on the same page it is a waiting game to see what modes die out.

Perhaps one of these days we will incorporate DV modes with “software modems” but that is a ton of work and we still have much to improve with the analog setup and also working on building some solid interface boards.

So for now it is on the way in the future list, but certainly not ruled out.

Is there not a way for G4KLX’s software on MMDVM do the digital side and then it would be just a matter of detecting analog or digital?

Last I read it only works on Arduinos with an ARM processor. It works at a low level without and OS. ORP required linux running and it sits on top of that. Right now there is no one that is able to offer the time to figure it out and port/test code. It might also be prudent to wait because as time progresses the SBCs out there will get faster and more efficient and able to process data like that on the fly.
