Say hello to the new Raspberry Pi 3, Model B. The new board is the first 64-bit Raspberry Pi, and comes with built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It’s available now, but good luck getting your hands on one as we can probably expect some shortage for a while. Good news, in theory things look positive for being able to use the RPI3 with ORP as our build is now using Raspbian. If the current ORP 1.1.0 build doesn’t support it, it will like be supported with the next ORP release when we build with the latest version of Raspbian as our base. It’s always exciting to see advancements in the SBC market.

I’m trying the Openrepeater image on my Raspberry PI 3…
Let us know how it goes. There is a possibility that you may have to update the image on a Raspberry Pi 2 first then move the SD card over you the Raspberry Pi 3. I cannot say for sure, but I had to do something similar when moving another project from a original Model B to a RPI2. Our last build was using a version of Raspbian Lite that was release before the RPI3 was announced.
OpenRepeater will not boot on the Raspberry Pi 3. It runs the newest release of Jesse. The led flashed three slow and three fast blinks.
I can’t say for sure, because I don’t have a Pi3 yet. Yes our build of 1.1.0 used Raspbian Lite from prior to the RPI3 being released. So, it doesn’t have the kernel support for the new hardware and processor. If you have a previous Raspberry Pi 2 you can try to boot into that and upgrade the OS.
Try:
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade
I tried taking a RPi2 firmware (after updating it) and placing it in a RPi3 and I only get a rainbow screen 🙁

I sold both of my 2s. I have 2 B+, four ZEROs and the 3.
Just out of curiosity, have you tried our 1.1.0 image on your B+? In theory it should work, just might be sluggish. 1.1.0 we use Raspbian Lite which should support all their boards. I haven’t been able to confirm if anyone has tried it on a B+ and their results. If it works you might be able to attempt the OS upgrade to make it RPI3 compatible. I tried to boot the image on a Pi B+ this afternoon : il doesn’t work!
I got a “kernel panic, not syncing …”
then after a loooong time : “random :nonblocking pool is initialized”
and …. nothing else.

Hello All, just wanted to let you know that the current build (1.1.0) has been updated to be compatible with the Raspberry Pi 3 as well as the RPI2. You can find this on our downloads page. Other than that nothing has change in the build…same version of ORP. Stay tune for a later announcement of our next release we are currently working on.
