The root user for the system has full control and can easily break the system. A default password is provided with the initial distribution. It is highly important that you change this to a unique and secure password.

Login via SSH or Using a Keyboard & Mouse using the default root password and issue the following command:

passwd root

Follow the prompts for the new password, and retype a second time. The prompt should confirm that the password was successfully changed.
